Kontoor Brands Makes Humanitarian Aid Donation to UNHCR in Support of Refugees Fleeing the Unfolding Crisis in Ukraine
The following message from Kontoor’s CEO, Scott Baxter, was sent today to Kontoor’s global employees.
Team Kontoor,
To aid the growing humanitarian crisis that is unfolding in Ukraine and bordering countries, Kontoor is making a $50,000 donation to the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. This effort closely aligns with Kontoor’s purpose of taking care of each other. As a global company, we know the importance of working across borders and supporting those in our communities and beyond.
I am proud that Kontoor employees have mobilized to offer their immediate support. At the onset of the crisis, Kontoor’s team in Poland took action quickly, organizing to raise donations to benefit the Polish Humanitarian Action. Our employees also donated personal clothing items to Ukrainian families seeking refuge in the area. Kontoor’s Czech Republic facilities also came together to deliver clothing samples directly to refugees in the Medyka village near the Poland/Ukraine border. Their efforts demonstrate the core tenets of our mission and represent the very best of us all.
Their actions remind us why we at Kontoor condemn the violence and destruction occurring in Ukraine; and why we must continue to act to address the resulting humanitarian crisis.
We will continue to support the Ukrainian people, and all people, impacted by this crisis. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this unfolding tragedy.
Take care of one another.
Thank you,
Scott
