Behind the Design: Wrangler® Women’s Heritage Collection
On the heels of Wrangler’s launch of the Heritage Collection, let’s explore the design thinking that went into this new line of women’s jeans. The Collection features six signature styles, all with a high-rise waistline in a combination of different fits and washes. We caught up with Lauren Bennett, Wrangler’s Modern Lead Women’s Bottom designer, in our Belgium office to learn more about how this line was developed and designed:
- “We’ve really invested in the high-rise look for the Heritage portfolio because we believe it's here to stay. We believe this will be a core wardrobe staple for years to come – every woman has a pair of high-rise jeans in her closet.”
- “We feature the iconography from our history to be authentically Wrangler, while targeting a modern customer with more trendy leg shapes.”
- “You can see the seven belt loops, the Rodeo Ben pocket, and the flat rivets which, historically, were created so they didn't scratch the saddle. We even have the little boot on the zip pull.”
- “We created a Pebble Wash that is a typical '80s / '90s acid stonewash, but instead of applying a traditional stonewash – which would take a lot of water, time, and energy – we used laser technology to create that same stonewashed look in a much more sustainable manner. We’re focused on creating the jeans of the future.”
- “The fits are great for so many women - there is a leg shape for every mood or style. Whatever the occasion, we want our heritage jeans to give women the confidence to take on the day.”
