Lee Honors Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary at the Museum at FIT
This year marks the 50th anniversary of hip hop and leaning into the brand’s authentic connection to the genre, Lee® will celebrate the impact hip hop has had globally throughout the year.
Kicking off the celebration during Black History Month, Lee sponsored the opening gala of the Fresh, Fly, and Fabulous: Fifty Years of Hip Hop Style exhibit at the Museum at FIT. The 100 garment and accessory exhibit, which features several Lee pieces, explored the revolutionary and influential style of hip hop and runs through late April. Guy Trebay of The New York Times captures the ethos of the exhibit in his piece, Hip-Hop, Style Fly at 50: A museum exhibition and book kick off the anniversary of a genre incubated in the Bronx and exported to the world.
Also in February, Lee will begin its support of I Heart Radio's new podcast series, “50 Years of Hip-Hop.” The 14-episode series is hosted by Fab 5 Freddy and will share the stories of the people and events that changed the culture forever.
Follow along throughout the year as Lee celebrates hip hop as a global cultural icon.
